Reminds me of the time Bobby Labonte took advantage of the rule in the all-star race to get a win. He stayed out and never made his mandatory green flag pit stop and got a good enough lead to where he came in on the last lap and his pit box was the one just before the start/finish line and he made his stop pulled forward and won the race. Needless to say the rules were changed the next year.

There are other areas where that rule can be manipulated also. Its the one where if you are leading late in the game, the clock runs at the start of the possession before the team takes the field. In that case, a team could let the clock run out, take a 5 yard penality, then the clock starts running again instead of time stopping. Which basically means you can run a full minute off the clock before taking a snap. The rules are frickin terrible this year. And on another rant, Im not to thrilled about that new ball and all of those technicals in the nba either.
